The Beginning And End of the RMS Titanic
The RMS Titanic was a British ship that was notorious for being the largest ship ever made. It was said that the Titanic was indestructible. The Titanic was built to meet the highest standards of luxury. The designers hoped that the passengers would feel as though they were inside a floating hotel. The ship was able to carry 2,453 passengers, and 900 crew members. On April 10th, 1912, the Titanic departed on its first journey. After picking up the passengers in Southampton, England; and was heading for New York. The passengers ranged from very wealthy people in first class, to the very poor in third class.
On April 14th, 1912, the Titanic collided with an iceberg at 11:40pm. After the collision, the ship slowly began filling with the freezing water from the Atlantic Ocean. Meanwhile, some passengers were evacuated in life boats, but there were not enough boats for all passengers and crew members. By 2:00 am, the Titanic broke into two pieces, with nearly 1,000 people still aboard. Eventually the two pieces sunk, and settled onto the deep ocean floor. The sinking of the Titanic caused more then 1,500 deaths.
The wreck of the Titanic shocked and horrified people all over the world. People were outraged that there were not enough life boats for all people on board. Since then, it is now a law that all boats must carry the correct amount of life boats. The Titanic still can be found on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, approximately 12,415 ft deep. Several artifacts have been recovered and are on display in museums around the world.

Please watch this video called Titanic: A Remembrance. This video discusses the search and finding of the RMS Titanic. While watching, please write down detailed notes in bullet points. We will be discussing the video in class on Monday.
Next, please create a detailed drawing related to the Titanic. For example, you could draw an image of the crash, sinking, people enjoying the luxuries, and people boarding the ship. Underneath the drawing, you must write a description of your image. Please bring this to class on Monday to show the class.
